“Let them praise his name with dancing” - Psalm149:3

In His Steps is an outreach ministry of Church of the Resurrection, Charismatic Episcopal Church. Our vision is to offer affordable dance classes that not only teach proper training in specific techniques, but which, above all, glorify our Lord Jesus Christ. We strive to insure a loving environment in which all can come, learn, grow, and feel welcome.

Our classes are structured to enhance the gifts which we have been given by God, and to emphasize the importance of offering these gifts back to Him in praise, worship, and service to the community. No previous dance training is necessary to enroll in this ministry. All that is required is a genuine love of the Lord and a sincere desire to give Him praise with movement.

The Classes

We are pleased at In His Steps to offer classes for ages 3 to adult. Our techniques include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, and Irish Step Dancing. Pointe is available once a student has successfully completed four years of Classical Ballet training and has reached approximately 11 years in age.

We also offer the First Fruits Pre-Professional Program for dancers 18 & up who wish to continue their training.

“The HEM: Healing Ensemble of Movement” is our performing company which is available for bookings in the area.

All of our classes include a time of prayer and are structured to warm up, discipline, and strengthen the body. One of our main goals is for our students to be strong in mind, body, and spirit.

Interpretive movement suitable for praise and worship in a church setting is often part of each class.

Our teachers are all strong in their faith and proficient in their craft. We desire to disciple and nurture each student at In His Steps.

Attire for classes is modest. Pink ballet shoes and tights are preferred for ballet with a leotard of choice. Boys, teens, and adults may wear clothing that is easy to move in and modest in style. Hair is to be pulled back and tightly secured. No gum or large, dangly jewelry is allowed in class.

Classes begin the Tuesday after Labor Day and go to the end of May, with time off at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Once students begin in the fall, they are expected to complete the full nine months of classes in order to get the most out of their training. Our policy is to take no new students after the first six weeks unless the student has had previous experience.

In the summer we offer two weeks of dance camp; one week for ages 3-10, and a second week for ages 11-18. Our camps are usually scheduled during the the last week of June and the second week of July.

A very important part of In His Steps Dance Ministry is outreach into the community. Our students visit nursing homes 3 times a year. In the past we have also shared the gift of movement at fall festivals, weddings, funerals, benefits, and Return to Bethlehem. Every spring we present a full length production.
